This breath switch will be used to control the Digital Talking Book Machine (DTBM) DS-1 (Digital Standard version 1), DA-1 (Digital Advanced player version 1), and DA-2 (Digital Advanced player version 2) allowing for control of the device using pulses of air. The contractor shall develop both a breath switch and a Technical Data Package upon which this device is based. The breath switch shall consist of a micro controller and associated circuitry, a USB-A connector, housing, and a mouth tube. A full description of breath switch requirements is contained in Attachment J-3. The breath switch’s tubing shall be food safe (i.e., silicone). The contractor shall develop any required tooling, production/test equipment, and procedures required to manufacture the breath switch. This work shall comprise two phases: (1) a non-recurring engineering (NRE) phase and (2) a full-production phase. This is intended to be a single-award 5-year IDIQ above the simplified acquisition threshold. Please see the attached solicitation and associated attachments for more details.
